JAMES DICKIE - MARGARET WILSON

James and Margaret were married in Newmilns on the 20th of February 1798. (Transcribed from OPR Ref. 604/2, FR393)

James was the occupant of Killochhead Farm, Mauchline, in Ayrshire. He is the brother of Francis Dickie.

Son of Alexander Dickie and Marion Barr.

Margaret was from Bangour in Ayrshire.

Children:

  1. Janet Dickie, born in Mauchline on the 6th of December 1798. (OPR Ref. 604/2, FR442)

    Janet was married to William Thomson, Ploughman, She died in Henrietta Street, Galston, on the 14th of February 1875. Her son William was the informant.

  2. Alexander Dickie, born in Mauchline on the 29th of June 1800. (OPR Ref. 604/2, FR442)

    Alexander was born at Killochhead Farm. There does not appear to be any record of his death in the statutory registers.

  3. James Dickie, born in Mauchline on the 1st of July 1805 and baptised on the 14th of July. (OPR Ref. 604/2, FR482)

    There does not appear to be any record of James' death in the statutory registers.

  4. William Dickie, born in Mauchline about 1805.
    5. William married Jane Watt, daughter of Thomas Watt and Janet Reid.
  5. John Dickie, born in Mauchline in October 1807. (OPR Ref. 604/2, FR496)

    There does not appear to be any record of John's death in the statutory registers.

  6. Gavin Dickie, born in Mauchline c. 1810.

    7. Gavin is at Killochhead on the1841 census and the 1851 census with his wife Flora (Florence McKenzie, b.c.1811); there are three children in 1841 and seven children in 1851. He is also at Killochhead on the 1881 census, widowed, with three of his sons. He died at Killochhead on the 10th of August 1888.
