WILLIAM FLEMING - ISABELLA MORRISON

WILLIAM FLEMING was born in Avondale about 1823.

William's parentage is not known for certain, but it is probable that he is a son of Hugh Fleming and Mary Craig and that he was thus born on the 17th of January 1824.

ISABELLA MORRISON was born in Avondale about 1823.

Daughter of John Morrison and Jane Lindsay.

William and Isabella were married in Avondale on the 20th of August 1846. (Transcribed from OPR)

William and Isabella are at Templeland Farm, Avondale, on the 1851 census (the name of the farm is written as Templing). William is not at Templeland on the 1861 census - Isabella is given as head of the family, although her status is given as married. Isabella (now widowed) is at Templeland on the 1871 and 1881 census and at Overhouse Farm, Avondale, on the 1891 and 1901 census - this was her son Hugh's farm; another son, William, is also at Overhouse in 1891.

    Hugh's birth is registered in the Avondale OPR, although the entry says that he was born in "Avonside, Parish of Stonehouse". Hugh died in infancy.

    John is at Templeland on the 1861 census.

    Married Alexander Craig, son of William Craig and Jean Anderson.

    Hugh is at Templeland on the 1881 census and at Overhouse in 1891. He married Jessie Hamilton (b. Avondale c.1856) of Snabe, daughter of William Hamilton and Jessie (aka Janet) Yuill, on the 26th of December 1895 at the Avondale Inn. They are at Overhouse on the 1901 census, with a four year old son, William. Hugh died at Overhouse on the 27th of November 1909. His brother-in-law Alexander Craig from Bankend was the informant.

  5. William Fleming, born at Highside Farm, Loudoun, Ayrshire, on the 1st of June 1854 and baptised on the 17th of July. (Transcribed from OPR Ref. 603/3, FR244)

    William is at Templeland on the 1861 census and at Overhouse on the 1891 census.

William died sometime between 1854 and 1871, but no further information has been found regarding his death.

Isabella died at Bankend Farm, Avondale, on the 4th of September, 1910.
